Mouseware

Product details

1. What is it? (Name & Description)

Mouseware is a head-wearable device that enables hands-free operation of computers & all smart devices (phones, tablets, TVs) with simple head movements. All the user needs to do is to wear our headgear and rotate their head to the direction the mouse cursor has to be moved on the screen. So, the head movement is synchronous with the cursor on the screen. This tech can operate not just computers/laptops, but smartphones, tablets & even smart TVs. There are 4 mouse clicking switches: Foot tap switch, Dwell click, Finger switch & Universal switch and the user is free to choose any accessory depending on their comfortability. Typing is performed with a powerful Speech to Text engine that includes an Indian-English accent and all Indian Regional languages.

2. Why should it be used? (What is the need it serves, what problem it solves, how is it superior to others)

Nowadays as a part of the new normal, everything has become online based that requires digital devices. Everyone needs digital devices in some part of their lives. Computers help students take up their exams without any kind of dependence like scribes. Be it Urban or Rural, a person with intellect can take up jobs with digital devices. Even the defense personnel who lose their upper limbs during their service are forced to retire and cannot do even back-office jobs. Technology boosts their morale and makes them mentally & financially stable. Even PwDs need leisure time. Currently, they are cut off from playing games or watching movies without assistance. Not just permanent PwDs, even the other people meeting with accidents and suddenly from that moment, that person is completely cut-off from technology and unable to rejoin their job.
This integrated technology solves all the above stated problems in an affordable manner. Currently the speech recognition is the predominant way of interacting with smart devices for persons with upper-limb disability. But the speech does not provide complete access over all operations or cannot move or point mouse cursor at all places of the screen. Hence, Mouseware bridges that gap here by enabling control over the mouse cursor with head movements. Moreover, other similar solution providers are way expensive starting at Rs.50,000 and goes till Rs.1,00,000

40,000 people/year lose their upper limbs and 85% live without any solution. We know that physical work involves the frequent use of their upper limbs and they are left out with limited job opportunities. Nowadays, it is obvious that most computer-oriented jobs are highly paid. Among every 1 lakh people, almost 2300 people are diagnosed with problems like CTS, Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral palsy, etc. Also, 20% of total fracture cases corresponds to upper-limb injuries and it's difficult to imagine the situation of employees, with limited medical & paid leave, whose job depends on the usage of computers.

Most of the people who fall under these categories are forced to settle for something very less than what they are capable of, due to limited opportunities extended. Nowadays as a part of the new normal, everything has become online based that requires digital devices. Everyone needs digital devices in some part of their lives. Be it Urban or Rural, a person with intellect can take up jobs with digital devices.
