Sangati became part of someone’s plan to become self reliant and earn livelihood.
The tool in this case was a simple sewing machine. She needed one which could be operated by hand as she cannot use her legs. Polio being the cause. She wanted one which has a motor so her output could increase. Sangati found a way to fulfil her wish. The Singer 1306 is a nice , sleek , functional model. It can help build a home based tailoring business for the lady in question. So, off we went hunting for the right model, for the stockist who had it readily available and then to her home in Faridabad to hand it over. Thank you Ramesh ji for connecting her with Sangati. Thank you Rohit for your guidance. Thank you Milan and Latika for your help in sourcing.
You can help by getting her more stitching orders. Do you know mass manufacturers of say, bed sheets, cloth bags or T shirts or such. We can arrange for the entire chain to be set up. She would need the raw material and finished products to be picked up from her residence, which is in faridabad. What do you say. Write to us at support@sangati.org.
I liked her zeal , her grit , her determination. She has two school going daughters, both are studying with the aim to become professionals, younger one aims to be in the police. She is making their dreams come true.
Hope her story motivates more people to become financially independent and find their own path.
Hope her story motivates YOU to get involved. Help Sangati identify needs, gaps and help us fulfill those.
As they say, ‘give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime’ ; or a woman and fishing could well be tailoring, right?
